The Office of the Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies (formerly the Office of the Vice-president for Research and Development) commenced its restructured operation on 1 November 2010 when Professor Joseph Hun Wei Lee began his appointment as Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies.

Under the leadership of the Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies, the Associate Vice-President for Research and Innovation, and the Associate Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies, the Office oversees matters related to research and development as well as matters related to the new mandate of graduate studies, with the aim to foster research excellence and to enhance research postgraduate education.

Together with its operational units, the Office strives to assist our university community to build on the excellence achieved with the aim of taking the university to even greater heights as an academic institution for the betterment of Hong Kong and the region.
