Knowledge Transfer @HKUST

HKUST has had a strong tradition of technology transfer since its inception. Over the years, the University has built a substantial knowledge transfer (KT) infrastructure covering collaborative research, contract research, consultancies, IP management, technology licensing, executive education, continuing education, professional training, and business incubation. This KT infrastructure is a part of the University's overall research support infrastructure. Currently, the following units work closely and collaboratively with the Office of the Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies (VPRGO) to manage a chain of KT functions:
To further facilitate knowledge transfer at HKUST, we have:
  • Implemented the Proof-of-Concept Fund (PCF) as gap funding to enable pre-commercialization development of promising, cutting-edge technologies emerging from the University's research
  • Enhanced our entrepreneurship support through EC
